EB 42A this afternoon @ 1446 hrs. had a SD60 #9008 wearing EMD ELECTRO-MOTIVE paint scheme! The information I got on this locomotive is that they are part of 100 units long term leased to BN [BNSF] from Oakway Leasing [part of EMD] in the mid-1980s. Some have been showing up on CSX and NS repaying horsepower hours. When the units were built, Oakway had no paint scheme and apparently didn't care as to how the units were painted, so the builder (EMD) chose a derivative of their demonstrator scheme. What the hell, it was free advertising. The politics of BN leasing them by the Kilowatt-hour and the attempts to get around BN union employees performing the maintenance precluded the use of the BN scheme for political reasons.
