Norfolk Southern SD40-2R #3442 and SD60 #6673 powered westbound 11J-11 through Phillipsburg, NJ this morning @1145 hrs.
The #3442, began life as SD40 #6098 on the Pennsylvania Railroad in March of 1966. Then she became Penn Central #6098. Conrail renumbered the #6098 to SD40 #6351 and on July 21, 1993, the unit was retired from service and sent to Conrail's Juniata Shop for rebuild program and emerged a month later as SD40-2R #6988.
Norfolk Southern had renumbered her to #3442 in 1999, and on February 1, 2000, was repainted back to a black and white paint scheme again.
